Dear Incoming CMS Students and Parents/Guardians:

Once again the school year is winding down and the weather is warming up. As we move into what we hope is a closer-to-normal 2021-22, we will proceed with summer reading.

This year our sixth grade assignment requires students to select one book from the list provided, examine the text, and complete a RACER assignment. They may be asked to briefly discuss their book in class, as well.

Grade seven and eight students have separate assignments that involve book presentations. Ms. Madden has assembled a list of suggested books for these grade levels, although students will have free choice in their selection as long as it fits within their appropriate grade-level language arts theme.

Although students are responsible for obtaining their own books, note that our LMC has many titles. Please contact Ms. Madden directly ( with your title request and she can initiate check out. We have scheduled book pickup dates on Tuesday 5/18, Thursday 5/20, and Tuesday 5/25 from 12:30 to 1:30. This drive-by book pickup will take place at the Collingswood High School cafeteria on Cambridge Avenue.

Details for all CMS Summer Reading Assignments will be posted to the Collingswood Public Schools homepage. Please contact me with any questions or concerns you may have.

Thank you, and have a great summer.
