The Special Board Meeting scheduled for tonight will be canceled and rescheduled for Monday, May 13th at 6:30 pm.
The Special Board Meeting is to re-appoint all school-based faculty and staff for the 2024-25 school year. All non-school staff will be reappointed at the previously scheduled Board Meeting on May 20th.
Last week, we presented the 2024-2025 school district budget. Our focus for the upcoming year is to shift from academic recovery to supporting rigorous learning environments. Despite the tough choices, we remain committed to the continuity of student services and support.
This year’s budget process was extremely challenging due to the rising costs of educational services and the limitations in state aid and local funding. Due to significant gaps in available funding, the District will experience a reduction in staffing this year. The loss of dedicated faculty and staff will impact the range of programs and services offered for the 2024-2025 school year. Details will be provided during the Board Meeting on May 20th.
In our planning to support the non-renewal notices to impacted staff and position appointments for the Special Meeting, we inadvertently neglected to provide school-based staff with formal notice as required by the Open Public Meetings Act (OPMA). Due to this procedural error, the re-appointment meeting must be rescheduled so the rights of our staff are protected.
