Community Movie Night: Juneteenth Edition

In recognition of Juneteenth, join us for a community film screening of The Hate U Give. Based on the novel by Angie Thomas, the film follows Starr Carter, a young woman who navigates the tension between two worlds: the poor, mostly Black neighborhood where she lives and the wealthy, mostly white prep school she attends. Her world is upended when she witnesses the fatal shooting of her childhood best friend by a police officer. As pressure mounts from all sides of the community, Starr must find her voice and choose to stand up for what’s right.

Unity in the Community Juneteenth Celebration

Join the Borough of Collingswood for a vibrant Juneteenth Celebration honoring the rich history, culture, and creativity of the Black community.
The outdoor event will feature:
· Live performances by Vedra Chandler, Quinton Lewis (Marian Anderson Music Guild), the Pasha Arts Universal African Dance and Drum Ensemble, and crowd favorite South Jersey 40+ Double Dutch Club
· DJ Kip spinning music and leading line dancing
· Student readings and artwork
· Black-owned vendor and arts market
· Food vendors
· Mocktail bar
· Family-friendly crafts, activities, and giveaways
· Community resources and non-profits
This event caps off a week of community and educational activities in Collingswood celebrating Juneteenth—commemorating the end of slavery and promoting unity and inclusion in our community.
