Friends learning together about the Water Cycle. Students did a fun experiment to learn how clouds form rain. Great assignment, Mrs. Curley!

Both inside the classroom - and outside of the classroom - our Zane North teachers and staff do an amazing job of building relationships with students that support their learning and growth!

Our kindergartners created new species of insects for "I is for Insect" day. Great assignment Mrs. Kotch!

We recently had the pleasure of hearing some excellent music performances by our Zane North Stars under the direction of Mr. Gross!

Photos from our district wide Autism and Neurodiversity Acceptance Walk, coordinated by our very own Mrs. Curley!

Our preschool students enjoyed their session with Mr. Frank Coates, who performs as “Mister Boom Boom.” Mr. Coates taught a music lesson incorporating West African drums that included movement activities, songs, and a drum circle where students played the instruments.

Some more photos of our Earth Day learning activities!

Earth Day learning activities! Students contributed to our school rain garden; learned about the process of growing a salad garden and planted their own seeds; participated in environmentally-themed read alouds; and initiated our crayon recycling program. Thank you to our parent volunteers who led these activities!

Mrs. Curley's students did a great job as guest readers during Neurodiversity Celebration Week!

Some more photos of our Neurodiversity Week Celebration activities.

This week was Neurodiversity Celebration Week at Zane North and across our district. Staff and students engaged in conversations and activities, and conducted read alouds to explain neurodiversity and increase awareness and knowledge about brain differences. We emphasized sharing information about different neurotypes (such as Autism, ADHD, and Dyslexia) in a strengths-based, inclusive way.

During Neurodiversity Celebration Week, students learned that neurodiversity is an umbrella term, used to refer to different ways of thinking. To reinforce this point, students got together to decorate their own umbrellas that highlighted various neurodifferences (such as Dyslexia, ADHD, Autism, Tourette Syndrome), and individual student umbrellas were combined to make larger umbrella displays, to emphasize our unity as a school community in valuing all kinds of different minds.
