
To help us celebrate Black History Month, we are learning about heroes from black history - and hearing some inspirational words from them - over the morning announcements.





As part of our Black History Month celebration, classes read the book Martin’s Big Words about the life of Martin Luther King, Jr. Students were then asked to write down some words that inspire them, which were used to decorate our “I can change the world with my words” bulletin board.


As part of our Black History Month celebration, Ms. Thembi Palmer visited Zane North today for student assemblies. Ms. Palmer spoke to students in 3rd through 5th grade about contributions from black women in science, including Dr. Patricia Bath and Dr. Mae Jemison. Ms. Palmer engaged the students with various demonstrations and simulated experiments, and the students had a great time learning during this enjoyable interactive assembly!

For Ms. Curley’s polar bear unit, Room 124 pretended to have Polar Bear blubber on their hands and feel the difference in the water temperature with and without “blubber.” We used Crisco shortening and plastic baggies to feel the difference. What a fun way to learn about polar bears!







Our students had a great time shopping at the Holiday Shop this week. Thank you PTA!

Our grades K-2 students had a fun trip today to CMS to see "Newsies Jr.". And they got to enjoy some snowflakes on the way over!







Our 2nd graders have been working on using multiple sources to research information.




4th graders participated in an engineering workshop this week provided by high school engineering teacher Mr. Brescia. Students were challenged to design a machine to solve a problem using engineering principles.
